Description

Our weekly Embroidery Club offers a calm, creative space for children not currently in mainstream school.  Whether home educated, SEND, SEMH, neurodivergent, anxious, EBSSA or simply happier learning at their own pace.

For ages 8–16.

Each session teaches embroidery through fun, achievable projects that build practical skills, confidence and self expression.

No experience needed.  Everyone works at their own pace.  The repetitive rhythm of stitching helps with focus, emotional regulation and fine motor skills.

Sessions are led by Mary Broddle, an Nottingham’s expert embroidery tutor, Chartered Engineer and community arts practitioner.

Mary has run after-school embroidery clubs for 3 years with children aged 5–16, including those with PDA, selective mutism and difficulty concentrating. Her nurturing approach ensures every child feels valued and supported.

TRIAL SESSION AVAILABLE

Neurodivergent friendly

These sessions have been designed to be ND friendly.

Groups are capped at 6, with clear visual demonstrations and a predictable, low pressure environment.   No fear of getting things wrong, messy backs don’t matter and movement breaks are welcomed.

Teaching is adapted to individual learning styles and children can go ‘off-piste’ with their own ideas if they wish.

🕰️ When

Wednesdays 12:45–2:15pm (term time)

⚙️How it works

Sessions run in half-termly blocks, working toward an embroidery design with variations for different skill levels. All materials provided; Mary stores pieces between classes.

Trial session

We understand that each child has different needs.  Therefore we can offer a trial session to see if it is suitable to your child.

£47.50 (covers materials), deductible from the block cost if you continue.

If you wish to do a trial session or pay for the block in instalments, please contact us.  We appreciate that it is a big commitment.

To ensure session that supports ND children better we have higher overheads.

We are working towards more formal Alternative Provision options.

Mary has enhanced DBS checks.
